About James
James Netto is a Partner at The International Family Law Group LLP, where he has specialised in all areas of children law since qualifying in 2014 and joining iFLG in 2020. He is widely regarded as one of the leading solicitors in international parental child abduction, acting for parents, children, and the Central Authority (ICACU) in Hague and non-Hague Convention cases, as well as in international relocation (leave to remove), multi-jurisdictional parenting disputes, surrogacy, and cross-border enforcement proceedings. A Solicitor Advocate who regularly conducts his own advocacy in the Family Court and High Court, James has been involved in a series of landmark firsts — including the first 1980 Hague Convention abduction case between Japan and the UK and the first cases on the 1996 Hague Convention to reach the UK Supreme Court — and is Chair of the Child Abduction Lawyers Association (CALA). He is ranked Band 1 by Chambers UK 2025 in Family/Children Law: Cross-Border Disputes and is a Legal 500 Next Generation Partner, with clients and peers describing him as “a real powerhouse of international and private law children work and an absolute go-to in the field”.
